Enjoy healthy drinks with these twisted cocktails.
Often times, one doesn't think what his drinks contain. However, there are also few individuals who are very conscious with they take. If you are among them, enjoy these cocktails that taste good but are not packed with empty calories.
- Mojito - If you love this drink but feel guilty every time you drink it, learn about Angie Martinez's sugar-free version of this Latin favorite cocktail. Just fill a martini shaker with one-cup ice. Add lime wedges, lime juice and mint. Muddle lime and mint with a pestle or a long spoon until well-bruised and fragrant. Add honey, rum and club soda and stir gently to dissolve honey. Add to the muddled mixture. Stir until the mixture is well-chilled. Strain into a rock glass filled with ice. You can garnish it with lime or mint, if desire. This drink replaces sugar with agave, which makes it a lot healthier. Moreover, fresh mint promotes digestion.
- Grapeful Mocktail - Health presented this light and refreshing drink that is alcohol free but can be a good mix for vodka or rum. For this, you will need 3 oz. red grapefruit, 3 oz. cranberry juice, 2 oz. seltzer, a wedge of lime and sprig of mint. Just mix the grapefruit and cranberry juices in a shaker with ice. Pour into a tall glass, add 2 oz. seltzer and finish off with a wedge of lime. You can add a sprig of mint too.
- Margarita - This drink often weighs 500 calories when served in restaurants but, by preparing your own, you can save up to 350 calories. Healthy Latin Eating advised using fresh limes, clear premium tequila, orange liquor and salt.
- Manly Cocktail - This is one of the low calorie cocktails for men, Men's Fitness reported. Just use 1 oz. applejack, 1 oz. rye whiskey, one brown sugar cube and two dashes of orange bitterness. Just build in a whiskey glass, saturate the sugar cube with orange bitters and muddle to create a slightly granulated paste. Add rye, applejack and rock ice. "This alternative to the Old Fashioned comes in at 152 calories," said Ian Present, co-owner of Dutch Kills and PKNY in New York City.
- Ginger Mocktail - In a tall shaker, add ice, juice, and ginger syrup. Stir and add seltzer. You can also twist an orange or lemon peel into the shaker to release the essential oil into the drink. This cocktail has only 99 calories.
Enjoy healthy drinks by giving a twist on your favorite cocktail.
