'Final Fantasy 15' Release Date PC, Xbox One, PS4: New Character Aranea Highwind Revealed; Major Game Announcements Coming March 30

A new character named Aranea Highwind from "Final Fantasy 15" has been released. Watch her in action together with other characters in an Active Time Report video.

"Final Fantasy 15" Director Hajime Tabata and Marketing Manager Akio Ofuji hosted Square Enix's first Active Time Report for 2016. In the live stream they revealed information about the gameplay, details and a new character for the game.

The new character's name is Aranea Highwind and according to IGN, she is a commander of Niflheim's Third Army Corps 87th Airborne Division. Specifically, she is a "skilled aerial combatant known as 'Dragoon' within the Imperial military," as described by Square Enix.

The release date of "Final Fantasy 15" will be announced during an event on March 30, 7:00 p.m. PT called "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV". It will be held at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium and hosted by Greg Miller.

The event is open to the public and fans in the U.S. can RSVP at the game's official website. Fans in the overseas will also get the chance to see the event as it will be live streamed at Square Enix's official YouTube and Twitch channels.

In the ATR, Tabata and Ofuji revealed that there will be two types of magic: elemental and ring magic. According to Gematsu, Ring magic can only be used by the bearer of the royal ring of Lucis while elemental magic including thunder, blizzard and fire are items that can be gathered.

The effectiveness of elemental magic attacks is conditional; it will be based on the surroundings and the weather. This means that thunder is more effective when used in the rain, blizzard is more powerful when there is water and fire is stronger in a flammable environment.

The ATR also revealed that the Niflheim Empire is on its way to conquer the world except for The Kingdom of Lucis. What makes the kingdom difficult to conquer is because Niflheim is a largely mechanized nation while Lucis is powered by magic barriers brought about by the crystal.

Anime News Network reports that the Emperor of the Niflheim Empire is Ideolas Aldercapt. However, Ardyn Izunia will be the one to rule in the Emperor's stead later in the game. Other characters are the inventor of the empire's technology, Verstael, head military leader General Glauca and Aranea Highwind.

"Final Fantasy 15" will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
