Scarlett Johansson Avengers Body: Her Black Widow Workout Routine
- comments
Scarlett Johansson's outfit in the Avengers had inspired so many women to work hard at the gym. A lot of people would agree that she is by far the hottest celebrity to have worn a catsuit. How did she do it?
Not a lot of people know that celebrities are like normal people when they hit the gym. They do not have special powers that can suddenly make them look perfect overnight.
What she needed was a good trainer and her commitment to reach her fitness goal to be able to perfectly fit in that amazing costume. Her character as a black widow in the action-packed films, "The Avengers," "Iron Man 2," "Captain America" and "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," certainly helped cemented her career in Hollywood.
According to a report by Pop Workouts, one of her challenges during her preparation for the role was how to balance between toning her muscle and losing weight at the same time. People who go through this type of fitness program know exactly that this isn't the easiest way to do.
During her workouts, Johansson put emphasis on her core and legs. She would warn it up at the treadmill for 15 minutes before starting with the diagonal walks with mini-bands. She does it 10 sets per side.
She would then mix it up with butterfly steps and lifted heel squat with triceps kickbacks. Standing leg rotation is included in the program, along with Cross-Back Lunge with Medicine Ball Pulses.
She will then end the session with Reverse lunge with dumbbell press, side to side speed skaters and t-push-ups. Does it sound so hard? Well, this is only Johansson's Wednesday workout routine. Wait until we get to the rest of the days.
Her next session is called Total Body Circuit. She does it every Sunday. Basically Johansson works so hard, she doesn't need a weekend off.
Most of the exercises during Sundays are almost the same as the one she does on Wednesday. Every session lasts for 90 minutes but she never complained.
According to Healthy Celeb, Johansson have also done hardcore training to make sure she is flexible enough for the role. She wanted to be as strong as possible to be able to do her own stunts. She has also trained with mixed martial arts experts to master the hand to hand combat she had to do for all the films.
"You get beat up a lot. It's painful," the actress said. "It's great to do MMA yourself as it changes your perspective about self-defense and attack."
