It seems that once the "Gilmore Girls'" revival begins, Stars Hollow will be minus one of its residents.

According to Vanity Fair, Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie St. James during the entirety of the show's run, has not been asked to return.

The news was confirmed when McCarthy replied on her Twitter account to answer the question if the actress would be returning for the revival or not. However, the tweet stated that she has not been asked to return to Stars Hollow by any of the show's producers.

However, Entertainment Weekly reports that the show's creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has gone on record stating that McCarthy's camp was contacted and that the actress' busy schedule would not allow her to return.

However, McCarthy was not made aware of any talks between Sherman-Palladino and her camp.

According to the show's creator, the actress is just so busy with everything she has going on at the moment. McCarthy is currently working on the "Ghostbusters" reboot as well as a scheduled appearance on "Saturday Night Live."

Palladino did leave the door open for McCarthy though, stating that, if the actress could find some free time, she would be more than happy to write her in for a scene or a cameo appearance.

Also, when asked about Sookie's disappearance from the show, Palladino claims that her absence will be properly explained.

The "Gilmore Girls" revival will be showing next season on Netflix and will compose of four 90-minute episodes.

Confirmed for the revival will be both leads Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. Also confirmed to return are fan favorites Scott Patterson (Luke Danes) and Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore).

Currently, not much else is known about the story for the revival except that Palladino has confirmed that the episodes are already written.

Several topics will be discussed as well. One of which will be how Emily has dealt with the death of Richard Gilmore, who was previously played by the late Edward Herrmann.

Fans of the show are hoping that the revival will be a proper ending to the "Gilmore Girls" series. The seventh season, which was done without Sherman-Palladino, was only regarded with mix reviews from fans.

Many fans are left wondering what has happened to both Rory and Loralei since the ending scene saw the former going off to purse her journalism career and the latter reconciling with Luke.

What do you think about "Gilmore Girls" without Sookie? Do you think Loralei will be able to go on without her best friend and business partner? Let us know in the comments below.
