How do people protect themselves from getting infected with sexually transmitted diseases such as Chlamydia, Syphilis & Gonorrhea? It's by staying protected and never indulging in casual sex with someone you probably just met.

There is currently an STD epidemic after it was discovered by experts that more and more people are getting infected with these diseases. The rate has increased and doctors warned that, if people will not stay mindful of what they do, the number of patients with sexually transmitted diseases will continue to rise.

According to a report gathered by Men's Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have confirmed this alarming development.

According to an epidemiologist from the CDC, Sarah Kidd, M.D, there is evidence that suggests low condom usage is the reason of this epidemic. The statistics also show that majority of these diseases have affected young people.

Hookup software has exploded in this generation and it may have contributed to the rising numbers of people infected with these diseases. It gives people the opportunities to date someone that is not from their circle of friends, which is very dangerous if the people hooking up are not practicing protected sex.

In just a 10-year period, the number of people infected with Chlamydia has tripled from 450,000 to 1.4 million. This is certainly alarming.

Meanwhile, in a report gathered by the Washington Times, the popular dating app Tinder has added a helpful feature in their software that would allow users to find the nearest STD testing centers in their area.

For a few months now, a California advocacy group has continually criticized the app for helping to spread sexually transmitted diseases. This latest feature have earned some points from the group who earlier said that they are committed to wage a battle against Tinder until the people behind it will do something to prevent the further increase of STD cases.

"This is why it is such welcome news that Tinder will add a Health Safety section with a link to Healthvana, making it easier for people to find testing locations through an easily accessible, modern platform. And we hope to see other dating sites do the same," said Whitney Engeran Cordova, AIDS Health Foundation senior director of public health.

Tinder has become the most popular Hookup app today. According to reports, the software has been downloaded more than 100 million times after it was launched three years ago.
