Fans of the "Iron Man" franchise may be in for a big disappointment as several reports indicate that the main star, Robert Downey Jr. may no longer continue his role in the fourth installment.

Parent Herald previously reported that Downey Jr. is allegedly tired of the role and has stated that he is too old to play his role as a billionaire-philanthropist Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4" by the time the film starts production. In updated report of Parent Herald, rumors state that Marvel Universe will continue with the fourth installment with or without Downey Jr. Allegedly. In fact, the "Iron Man 4" will be released on 2020, according to the report.

Marvel said that it has already prepared a line of superhero movies planned to be released in the next years. Although "Iron Man 4" is not part of it, fans feel that it is one of the surprise movies Marvel will release in 2019 or 2020, reports said.

Rumors state that Marvel was willing to pay Downey $100 million to continue his role in "Iron Man 4." There are no confirmed reports that Downey Jr. has accepted the offer and play Iron Man once more. More so, there were no confirmed reports that Downey Jr. will no longer accept the role either.

Each one of the "Iron Man" movies that have been shown in theatres all had record-breaking sales.

Downey Jr. has played the roles in the first installment in 2008, reports Christian Post. He has already made five appearances in five released films. He will be starring in as "Iron Man" in "Captain America: Civil War" movie which is scheduled to be shown in theatres this May. There's also a high possibility that he will appear in the anticipated two-part film "Avengers: Infinity War," which is scheduled to hit the theatres in 2018.

Downey Jr. will be turning 51 this year and that could have prompted the actor to say he would be too old by the time the film starts production. It is expected that the film will start shooting in 2019, which he will be 54 by then. He may not be as agile as he had way back when he began shooting the first installment. Rumors that he will be replaced by a younger actor and turning the film into a reboot are emerging.

There were also reports that the whole franchise could begin the movie with a different story and characters. However, these all remains as rumors until Marvel makes an official announcement.
