Wedding cakes have become the centerpiece in any reception. If you grew up in a Latino household, these desserts may have inspired your sweet tooth, but how can you incorporate them into a wedding cake? Here are some ideas on how to do just that.

1. Dulce de leche. The creaminess of this dessert is so heavenly—but imagine it with cake. According to NBC Latino, dulce de leche is a staple in Latin American households, and according to legend, caramel was the product of a lucky incident during Argentina's civil war back in 1829. A woman was preparing warm milk for the soldier's camp when General Lavalle arrived to arrange a peace treaty with the opposing General Manuel de Rosas. When Lavalle did not find de Rosas in his tent, the sleepy Lavalle decided to take a nap instead. When the women went to check on de Rosas and found Lavalle instead, chaos ensued, leading the milk to simmer for longer, creating a brown caramel that later became dulce de leche. This same traditional milky creaminess can be incorporated into a dulce de leche wedding cake, with caramel drizzles.

2. Tres leches cake. Tres leches cake is a rich, custard-soaked vanilla sponge cake that has become a staple at birthday parties, quinceaneras, weddings, and other celebrations. It is made up of three kinds of milk–evaporated, condensed, and heavy cream. This recipe from NBC Latino suggests using coconut milk as a substitute for heavy cream, and decorating it with your favorite fruit.

3. Postre chaja. Postre chaja is a uruguayan peach merengue cake that is light and delightful, best for weddings held in the summer. According to La Cocina de Frabisa, the postre chaja originated in 1927 and created by confectionery owner Orlando Castillan. It is a heavenly mixture of cake, frosting, cream, caramel, and peaches. 4. Rogel. Rogel combines layers of thin pastry and dulce de leche, topped with thick, whipped meringue. POPSugar reports that it's a classic among Argentinian weddings. Here's an easy to follow recipe from Huffington Post's Luciana Uchi Davidzon.

5. Chocoflan. This delightful Mexican dessert brings together the creaminess of flan and the goodness of chocolate cake in a show-stopping dessert that will tickle your taste buds. Check out this recipe from Karista's Kitchen and save a copy for your wedding planner now.
