"The Mummy" reboot is being launched by Universal Studios to counter the dominance of Marvel Studios in monster characters. The movie, as told, will scare the hell out of you.

If you are thinking that this movie invokes "The Mummy" played by Brendan Fraser, then you are grossly mistaken. Expect the tagline, everything in the story is different including cast.

The movie franchise is part of the Universal Monsters film, to resemble Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing lead roles by Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella, who is the Mummy in the film. It is earlier rumored that "Dracula untold" would be launched by Universal's Monsters franchise- a blend of The Mummy, Wolfman, and Dracula. But, it turned out to be a farce.

At the Cannes Movie festival, Russell Crowe confirmed to the speculation of the reports that "I'm gonna do it". While attending Beverly Hilton roundtable about "The Mummy" on last Friday, Russell Crowe confirmed to play the role as Dr. Henry Jekyl, a Navy Seal on a mission to uproot the terrorism in Iraq, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

As reported in Cinemablend, Universal studios hired heavyweight writers for this movie. The studio hired Noah Hawley, Guzikowski and Ed Solomon to collaborate with Chris Morgan and Alex Kurtzman, to produce a scary script for "The Mummy".

The Oscar-winning actor, Russell Crowe, shared the storyline in a chat with Kurtzman earlier stating that Those kind of creative collaborative conversations, if they're explosive like that from the first time you start talking, you're actually into a really good place". He further added that they collaborated and built a fantastic story line by interweaving of the characters in the story.

The movie is targeting to hit the theaters on Jun 2017, is expected to create a sensation like the Original "The Mummy" was back in 1999 dominated by Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.
