HIV News: 4 C'bean Countries To Benefit From US-financed HIV Program Called 'LINKAGES'

The world is constantly battling HIV infection progression and there's a latest program which aims in decreasing the dispersal of HIV worldwide.
This new project also targets health care improvement for the most at-risk group and people who are living with HIV patients in the chosen Caribbean countries. The project was introduced on Monday, December 12 in Jamaica Observer.
The newly released project is called "LINKAGES," it linkages beyond the Continuum of HIV Services for Key Populations Affected by HIV.
This is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). It centers on at-risk populations in the Bahamas, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Suriname.
LINKAGES is the biggest worldwide project committed to key populations, and it is a five-year collaborative contract.
FHI 360 led the project in union with IntraHealth International, Pact, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was introduced in cooperation with the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Health, and the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
As per the FHI 360, their team will hasten the capacity of governments and groups working with key populations at risk of HIV to minimize its spread among key populations and their sexual partners. it is also to prolong the lives of people who already living with HIV patients.
LINKAGES in partnership with the local governments and communities as well as international allies is an endeavor to bring assistance and lessen HIV-related shame and unequal treatment.
The program is really targeting all kinds of sexually active individuals in order to address their experiences and to provide an assistant treatment in their communities. This is the prospect of the LINKAGES project, said Luke Sinnette, director of Friends for Life, a Trinidad-based LINKAGES grantee.
LINKAGES would provide the greatest tools and strategies from long years of worldwide experience and made suitable to local necessities and situations. This is through financial and technical support as per the US embassy announcement.
