After a decade of hitting the charts with the album 'Loose', Nelly Furtado is back for some brand new music. To give us a glimpse of this new album, the artist released the official music video of the single 'Pipe Dreams' in Youtube this week.
Whatever happened to Nelly after her last album in 2012 never became at par with the fame of 'Loose' which has sold 12 million copies worldwide. Tracks like 'Say It Right' And 'All Good Things' which Furtado co-wrote with Chris Martin and 'Promiscuous' with Justin Timberlake who also collaborated in the making of the entire album became a radio staple and a party favorite.
Although 'Spirit Indestructible' was far from being a flop and her 2009's Spanish album, 'Mi Plan' led her to earn the Latin Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Album, the singer-songwriter admit in an interview that she 'almost felt dirty' and spent out in creating her 2012 album feeling that she had done that concept before, Digital Spy reported.
The 38-year old artist also admitted that her successful career took a toll on her and 'didn't flow with my natural rhythm' of who she is.
Now that the official music video of 'Pipe Dreams' is released in Youtube, sources are keen in finding out if Furtado has, indeed, returned with a bang.
Perezhilton, then again, cannot help but notice the 90s influence in the song. 'Creepy good,' as to how the source described it moving on to mention that bringing back some 90s flavor in one's music can do good things like it does to Lana del Rey's.
The video's concept of introspection with Furtado pacing around an old house also adds up to that poignant 90s theme as well as her hairstyle and fashion statement.
Nelly Furtado worked with John Congleton, who has been known for working with artists with alternative and indie leanings like St. Vincent, Byrne, Modest Mouse, Sleater-Kinney and Alvvays among others, according to Exclaim!
Aside from her 'Pipe Dreams' the album will have these songs in its tracklist: 'Cold Hard Truth', 'Flatline', 'Carnival Games', 'Live', 'Paris Sun', 'Sticks and Stones', 'Magic', 'Palaces', 'Tap Dancing', 'Right Road' and Phoenix.'
The Ride will be released on March 31, 2017.
