In a statement, Niantic Labs said: "Apple Watch is particularly well suited to Pokémon GO as it seamlessly combines gameplay and imagination with getting exercise and exploring the real world".
Niantic initially announced the availability of the Pokémon GO App on Apple Watch Release Date after September 2016, during the Apple event, but, a series of withdrawal rumors battered the hopes of Pokémon fans. However, from December 22, 2016, users will start getting updates on their iWatch about the App.
As per MacWorld, Players will get notifications when they are nearing Pokémon. They can track their distance towards hatching eggs and receive candies for buddy Pokémon. Players are further benefitted as these walking sessions and the time spent on playing the game will be recorded as a "workout".
The Watch App highlights the players about a nearby Pokéstop and updated when their eggs are hatched and medals are awarded. Although player gets alerts on iWatch, the player still need to iPhone the complete the action.
Since its release in June 2016, Pokémon GO has been the biggest hit of the year. Niantic making sure that the game is evolving continuously and increasing in popularity every day. As of now, Pokémon GO has been downloaded 600 million times and has encouraged many to walk and in the process made them fitness freaks, as reported in Digital Trends.
Interestingly, it is observed and reported by Niantic that gamers have logged in 8.7 billion kilometers and captured 88 billion Pokémon.
Niantic has not only releasing regular updates but also promoting the game through various channels to keep game interesting and popular. One such recent promotional campaign is offering Pokémon-themed-beverage to users who play near Starbucks outlet.
