‘Cruel Intentions’ stays in 1999: Reason Behind the Withdrawal of the ‘Cruel Intentions’ TV Series

The expectation to watch the T.V series of 'Cruel Intentions', the much applauded American teen drama film of 1999, has gone in vain. NBC Entertainment has withdrawn its plan to create the TV series of 'Cruel Intentions'. The TV series was expected to air in summer 2017.

 The TV series of 'Cruel Intentions' was expected to be a sequel of the 1999 movie. Earlier it was rumored that Sarah Michelle Gellar herself will be handling the role of Kathryn Merteuil.

Deadline recently gave the information that, NBC has withdrawn officially from making the TV series of 'Cruel Intentions'. Redevelopment of the idea will be in the future plan of Sony TV. NBC Entertainment has clear intentions to work out the project as they had even worked out the pilot of the series.

Earlier it was rumored about the scheduling complications of the 'Cruel Intentions' TV series. Jennifer Salke, the President of NBC Entertainment has earlier stated that, due to the space issue the schedule of the show needs to be extended. And the show will be expected in Summer. Also it seemed as they were determined to air the show.

The things, then didn't work out as expected by the NBC team. The information from Vulture states that, after giving such expectations of the TV series of 'Cruel Intentions' by NBC, now Sony TV will be expected to air the show. Even the pilots of the series has been handed over to Sony TV.

The plot was planned to set as a 15-year later story from where the movie, 'Cruel Intentions' ends. Bash Casey as the son of the couple Sebastian Valmont and Annette Hargrove, who happened to be Kathryn Merteuil's late brother and sister-in-law.

The story begins with the discovery of Bash Casey's father's legacy in a hidden journal. And that discovery effects Bash in several ways also leads him to a life which he has never imagined. All these were the expected plot to be aired in the 'Cruel Intentions' TV series.
