Remember the mighty Jaegers from the movie "Pacific Rim"? Or the giant destructive military robots from the movie "Avatar" fighting against the indigenous rebels Na'vi from Pandorra? Well, they are soon going to roam this planet, courtesy South Korea's Hankook Mirae Technology.

According to The Telegraph, the South Korean company has roped in Vitaly Bulgarov, a veteran of science fiction blockbusters like "Transformers", "Robocop" and "Terminator" to design these 13 foot tall and 1.5 ton heavy masses of metal accompanied by a tireless and dedicated team of 30 engineers.

The company chairman Yang Jin-Ho claims Method 2, as it is named, to be world's first manned bipedal robot and is built to survive extremely hazardous conditions inaccessible by human beings. Apart from its enormous size, the technology used in this mega robot has been the project's core achievement.

Vitaly Bulgarov, the designer in chief has added that the robots are made with a view to solve real time problems. Yang also said that he had always dreamt of building his own robot, the dream ultimately came into being by investing 242 billion won($200 million) in this ambitious futuristic project.

As reported by Phys ,the giant robot, whose metal arms each weigh 130 kilograms (286 pounds) is functioned by identically copying the limb movements of a pilot sitting inside its torso. It is so heavy that the ground literally shakes under its feet with every step it takes.

Its usage still remains a mystery but Yang claims to have already received many inquiries from industries ranging from manufacturing, entertainment as well as construction. Though very remote, deployment in the fields of military along the North Korean War Zone has also been considered a possibility. These robots are designed in a way that they can work in extremely hazardous areas where its almost impossible for the humans to work unprotected.

Method 2 is speculated to be ready for sale by the end of 2017 at an exorbitant price of around 10 billion won ($ 8.3 million) but it will take some more time to give this mega robot the finishing touches it deserves!
