Samsung has been the leader of display technology and innovation. This time they have unveiled a gaming monitor with quantum dot technology. This is the first time Samsung has used this technology in gaming monitors, previously this technology was limited to only Samsung TVs.

Samsung announced its new curved gaming monitors and they will be launched in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas named CH711, the monitor will come in two sizes 27 inches and 31.5 inches reports Engadget. They both feature a 2560x1440 pixel resolution, 178 degree viewing angle, an 1800R curvature and a wider colour gamut covering 125 percent of sRGB coverage. These monitors come in an all-white colour scheme and can be mounted vertically but heavy curvature in the panel might not make them look awkward. The monitors sport a 'borderless' design with very thin bezels and a clean look because power and HDMI cables are hidden in the neck of the monitors.

Quantum dot display technology is leap a forward from conventional LCD and LED display technology bringing higher brightness levels, better colour accuracy and higher colour saturation and all these improvements come with a promised better battery life as reported by PCMag. These displays also do not suffer from the 'lag' issue (they have a rated response time of only 1ms) which is really common in LCD, LED displays making them a perfect choice for gamers however the black levels on these displays is a no match for OLED panels.

According to Andrew Sivori, vice president of CE-IT product marketing for Samsung Electronics America, "Today's multimedia consumers have heightened expectations; they demand an immersive experience that makes them feel like they're part of the games they play and the content they view. Our new Quantum Dot Curved monitors offer brilliant design, richer colour, and even deeper contrast than ever before."

There is no availability or expected price for these gaming monitors but Samsung will reveal more details at CES 2017.
