Harley Quinn was caught reading the comic book version of herself. Actually it was the actress who portray the character in 'Suicide Squad', Margot Robbie who was reading the Harley Quinn comic book. It's assumed that she's doing that in order to further her research of the character for her return as Harley Quinn to the big-screen.

Her depiction of Harley's character was so well-known and loved by fans and many demanded her own spin-off. With her confirmed return with director David Ayer to DCEU in 'Gotham City Sirens' alongside Poison Ivy and Catwoman, makes the fans all the merrier.

Margot Robbie were spotted in LAX  on November 15 2016 when she read the comic as reported by comicbook. Titled 'Harley Quinn Valentine's Day Special', the comic book is a TPB (Trade Paper Back) which consists of four major story arcs in the 'New 52' run of DC's Harley Quinn title. Those story arcs are loosely used as the base of Robbie's portrayal of the character, where Harley Quinn in that run is funnier, kinder, smarter but more lethal than she is in the animated series (which she originates from)

Further details about the comic are reported by Hollywood reporter, which it was written by a husband and wife team of Jimmy Palmioti and Amanda Conner. Their run on 'Harley Quinn' is quite successful, and sprunged a few spin-offs. So basically what they're doing with the character is making a franchise out of her. Just like marvel is currently doing with 'Deadpool' and its whole lot of spin-offs and mini-series. But 'Harley Quinn' itself as a title and a character does have its own way to attract and interest millions of readers around the globe. One of the main reason being is; she is the girlfriend (or ex-girlfriend) of a homicidal maniac who likes to kill or destroy something just for the fun of it, The Joker. And she does that willingly, and also she's funny. And Margot Robbie depicts those traits perfectly to the big screen.
