Jessica Alba Owned Honest Company Withdraws Baby Powder Across The US; Eye And Skin Infections To Be Blamed

Actress Jessica Alba co- owned Honest Company has voluntarily recalled organic baby powder from the US market. This step was taken after complaints arise of skin irritation and eye irritation caused by the product.
The Santa Monica, Calif based company clearly stated that the withdrawal was a voluntary process and took place only after the tests revealed a problem with the product. The decision came out on Wednesday that the company would recall its organic baby powder from the US market.
The product had only hit the market in April, 2016 and became quite a talk in the market. But the sudden withdrawal has raised quite a number of eyebrows, it seems.
According to The People, the recall has taken place after some testings revealed chances of micro organism contamination during the production stage resulting in skin and eye infections.
As per a video shared by Alba on the company's official website, Christopher Gavigan, the co-founder of the company said, "With the full knowledge and under the guidance of the FDA, we've decided to voluntarily recall this product out of an abundance of caution."
Gavigan also added that the recall had only taken place after the company's discussion with the FDA and recalled the product. The organic baby powder was sold across the US in 4 oz. bottles along with a UPC of #817810014529.
The company also announced that the consumers can return the product, released in April for a full refund if they want to.
According to The Reuters, the company was earlier accused of withdrawing the product after several complaints from the consumers. However, later,Honest Company clearly mentioned that the line of baby powder was recalled as the company found the problem on its own. The step wasn't a result of any consumer complaint, whatsoever.
The Food and Drug Administration as well as Honest Company were not available to make any comments on the matter.
