Torrent websites become a huge part of people's lives in the last five to 10 years. Many individuals prefer to download their movies and other files with the help of uTorrent and torrent websites to save money or time.

But lately, one too many torrent websites have been brought down because of various reasons, like legal rights. One of the biggest and most successful and longest running websites, Torrentz.com and Kickass Torrents were brought down.

It seems like it might be making a comeback.  It was, truth be told, a pretty popular domain but it seems like its presence was not much needed when other major portals were live like Rarbg, 1337x, Torrentz2 (the late Torrentz) and Piratebay.

TechTimes reported that KAT was suddenly shut down and right afterward Torrentz faced the same situation. Not to rub acid on the wound but TorrentHound shut its assets out of the owner's own choice. Users were left scrambling for more resources.

Of course, after such a hard blow, thousands of users started searching for other websites and soon forgot about KAT, Torrentz and TorrentHound. The nearest and easiest alternative to these sites was The Pirate Bay, which has stood strong for several years in a row.

Another Site Link article reports that there were top five websites that made it to the end of the year and were ranked according to their popularity and user ratings. The Pirate Bay, Extra Torrent, Rarbg, 1337x and Torrents respectively were ranked in the list.

Just like Torrentz, KAT made a comeback under a different name but that does not seem to have affected its performance. Since the new site has barely been live for a month or more it is not possible to check its Alexa rankings and predict whether or not it is as much of a success as it once used to.
