Just a few days after the Nintendo Switch big reveal, the new hybrid game console has gone out of stock in all major retailers. The news of the unavailability of Nintendo Switch stock has made a lot of fans disappointed as it came immediately after Nintendo America's Reggie Fils-Aime declared that the supply for Nintendo Switch will not be a problem.

Fils-Aime, in an interview with gamespot, has assured avid fans of Nintendo that the new hybrid game console will not have the same supply problem that the Nintendo NES Classic game console has run into during the holiday sale. Fils-Aime was also quoted of saying that Nintendo is committed in making 2million units of Nintendo Switch available worldwide for its March launch.

The statements of Fils-Aime, as it turns out, are but empty promises as the Nintendo Switch is currently unavailable for preorder in all major online retailers. The sudden unavailability of stock has been interpreted by many pundits as either Nintendo failing to meet the demand or that the company is intentionally limiting the supply of Nintendo Switch to generate more hype.

According to reports, major retailers Amazon, Toys R Us, Walmart, GameStop and Best Buy have all declared the Nintendo Switch unavailable for preorder. The unavailability of stock does not however mean that all the 2million promised Nintendo Switch units are already sold. The unavailability of Nintendo Switch may just mean that the major retailers have already exhausted their allotments for Switch.

GameStop has already advised their clients to sign up for online notifications just in case Nintendo gives them additional allotment. For those who are eager to preorder Nintendo Switch, third party stores and eBay are still offering Nintendo Switch preorders but at a higher cost. Nintendo Switch accessories and video games are still up for preorder in a number of major retailers.
