The reports of mold within Sophie the Giraffe, teething toy is giving parents sleepless nights. According to some latest reports, shared by some parents, the teething toy seemed to contain molds inside it. Several parents complained of spotting growing mold inside their child's teething toy. The toy that is made of 100 percent natural rubber contains a small hole that manufacturer suggests must be kept submerged in the water.
The problem has taken such a serious turn that many anxious parents are simply tossing out the teething toy, disgusted with the mold in it, without further ado. According to USA Today, few concerning images have come up online that appears to be of black mold inside this teething toy. However, doctors suggest that there is nothing to worry.
Even though several parents complained of the mold, it seems that not all used toys contain it. For instance, Jenn Morson Frederick, a mother of a two year old, cut open the toy and seems happy not to find any mold traces. She added that the toy seemed just fine and there were no molds inside it.
According to NBC News, pediatrician, Dr. Jean Moorjani of Arnold Palmer Hospital, "The good news is while the mold looks yucky and is distressful, for most healthy kids the mold itself doesn't pose a bad health effect." She further added that children who suffer from allergies or weakened immune system might some minor issues. However, on a general perspective, there is nothing to worry at all.
Dr. Moorjani also mentioned that parents need to wash any toy that goes into the kid's mouth with hot water and soap that works as a disinfectant. She also mentioned washing toys by mixing one cup bleach with half gallon water. The spokesperson of Callison Inc., the USA distributor of Vulli, said that none of the customers , Stephanie Oprea and Dana Chianese, who shared the Sophie horror experiences had contacted the company.
