Alert: The Latest Rainbow Emoji Might Crash iPhone Instantly; Here’s All About It
- comments
Can a text emoji really crash an iPhone? Well, the latest rainbow emoji might, at least that's what it seems. Just a text message with three characters is all that a user needs to temporarily disable an Apple iPhone. Now, this problematic emoji includes a white flag, a "0" as well as a rainbow emoji.
According to Daily Mail Online, the text message with these emoji affects almost all iPhones that run on the latest iOS versions. However, the crash takes place for a few minutes only before the device starts working again. This latest bug to hit iPhone was first discovered by Everything ApplePro, an Oregon based company as well as Preston159.com , on YouTube.
Interestingly, the bug at present only affects the iPhones that run on the latest iOS. So, users with earlier versions of iOS needn't worry at all. Now, the white flag, the 0 and the rainbow emoji together create a rainbow flag that isn't an original emoticon at all. Usually, iOS would create the rainbow flag using the white flag and the rainbow emoji by using a certain hidden character known as VS16.
But when the 0 comes in between the white flag and the emoji, it simply crashes the system, thereby rendering the buttons and touchscreen useless for a few minutes. The tech giant, Apple hasn't yet commented on the latest bug issue. However, as per 9to5 Mac, there's a way to stop the bug from crashing the device. The users need to delete the iMessages with the prankster sending such a message to avoid repeated crashes. But there's nothing to worry as the device simply starts working after a few minutes or after rebooting.
The problem of this bug doesn't end right away as there are no ways to stop the device from receiving such a text. All the users can do is block the number or the friend sending the message, that's all. The prank is only restricted to iOS 10.0 and above. What's more interesting is that copying and pasting the text on the iPhone would make the pranksters message app to crash. So, pranksters willing to send such a bug to other users need to resort to their desktop Apple devices.
