'A Dog's Purpose' is an American comedy-drama movie revolving around the life of a dog in a dog's perspective. The initial release of the movie was on Jan 26, 2017 and the worldwide release of the movie is on Jan 27, 2017. But before the release of the movie a video clip was leaked last week, which called out unnecessary attention. In the video clip, Hercules, the German Shepherd was shown as being abused by the dog trainer for a scene of the movie.

PETA, the Animal advocacy organization then decided to react against this cruel act. Even the movie 'A Dog's Purpose' was decided to boycott. Obviously, it affected the premiere of the movie also. The Variety has reported the response of the controversy by Dr. Robin Ganzert, CEO of 'American Humane', an organization to monitor the animals used on the shooting sets.

The video clip was first released last week by TMZ. As per the investigation of 'American Humane' the misleading video of forcing the German Shepherd to enter the pool of water by the dog trainer was manipulated and edited. The two clips in the video were filmed at two different times of the shoot. As soon as the team noticed the unwillingness of the dog to enter the pool they immediately stopped the production.

Dennis Quaid's during the promotion of his film 'A Dog's Purpose' in 'Today Show' has been reported by ET Canada. According to Dennis "Absolutely no dogs were harmed in this. What is not shown are divers underneath the water for the dog. Every precaution was taken. Platforms underneath the water that the dog was standing on - not dangling in the water."

Lasse Hallstrom, the director of 'A Dog's Purpose' has also responded to the controversy through his Twitter account. Hallstrom commented that he didn't find any such situation during the shoot. All the members of the movie were committed to providing an animal-friendly and safe atmosphere for all the animals in the movie. 'A Dog's Purpose' is the third movie by Hallstrom with dogs and he addresses himself as a dog lover.

The movie 'A Dog's Purpose' is an adaptation of W. Bruce Cameron's bestselling novel with the same title. The movie is about a dog Bailey and his multiple lives. Bailey goes through reincarnation and born multiple times in different sex and sometimes different breed. It's the spiritual journey of a devoted dog and his realization of the true meaning of life.
