Brisk walking, regular jogging, biking or any other active sport can lessen the chances of developing high blood pressure in black Americans, a new research reveals in the American Heart Association's journal "Hypertension."
A new research conducted on black Americans found that they are at higher risk of developing high blood pressure as compared to other racial groups in the USA. The participants had normal blood pressure at their late 40s but after eight years during the follow-up, nearly 50 percent of them suffered from high blood pressure or hypertension, according to Health US News.
The study also revealed that specific physical activity in people lowered their chances of developing high blood pressure. The usual household chores and normal activities had no effect on risks of blood pressure.
Common household activities are not performed in bouts that are long enough to leave long lasting impacts on heart health or blood pressure, said Keith Diaz, Ph.D., lead study author and assistant professor at the Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health at Colombia University Medical Center in New York. For reaping certain benefits from a physical activity consistency and intensity is the key, reports Medical Express.
The exercises forming strong influence on the health are of moderate-intensity. They raise the heartbeat, break a sweat and force all the body muscles to involve like playing tennis, water aerobics, biking 10 miles/hour or faster, running etc.
High blood pressure is common among the citizens of the US. One in every three adults suffers from it. African Americans are more prone to it. High blood pressure is a symptomless condition but it can lead to heart failure, kidney disease, stroke and heart attack.
A dose of good physical activity must be a vital part of the life of black Americans before they develop high blood pressure. This simple method can promise normal blood pressure with many other health benefits.
