A recent study conducted by a group of researchers about the difference between men and women sexual preferences as they grow older. They found out that what everybody believes about the sexual preferences of men and women are not entirely true.

According to Daily Mail, there are 2,676 individuals that are tested in this study. Bisexual, homosexual and heterosexual participants' responses are collected and analyzed. "We expected to find patterns similar to previous studies showing that women's youngest and oldest considered sex partners are strongly associated with their own age", the authors explained.

Even though men are more likely to be attracted and to have an interest in younger individuals as they grow older, this concept was believed to be true. But, a new analysis revealed, that men's preferred age range widens over time and they also do consider sex with a partner in their same age or older and more likely to act on it than in younger ones. Researchers also added, "For men, we expected that the only oldest considered age would be strongly associated with their own age, but that the youngest considered show weaker association with their own age."

Women too have their own set of preferences. From hunky men to a more intelligent and with shared values, women's preference also change as men as they grow older. A statement made in Female First by Dr. Cecilia D'Felice, a clinical psychologist and relationship expert of match.com, "It is natural that, as women mature, our taste adjust to our developing expectations. When younger, looks predominate as we seek out someone with whom we want to share our genes, but these surface attributes become less important as we look depth and new experiences later in life."

However, based on the result of the research it shows that these are partly true. Men and women are characteristically interested in partners close to their age. Women prefer slightly older men, but interested in a much narrower age range. While men may be interested in both younger and older women, their sexual activity reflects on their own age.

Since the study involves all gender, homosexual men are more likely than heterosexuals in their preferences for younger partner into actual sexual behavior. Results of the study show that men and women sexual age preferences developed differently. "As women grow older, age limits regarding both younger and older sex partners follow their own aging. While men, as they grow older, they become more interested in older individuals but maintain interest in younger ones", the authors of the study explain.
