Tinder users who prefer sending a simple Hello to fellow users, might want to think twice before using the app. The Hotline is the latest dating app that force users make a call before texting. The aim of the app is to solve the conversationless matching by going in other directions.
If the idea of talking to a potential match makes users nervous, the Hotline app is something they might want to try once. According to Digital Trends, the dating app is developed by 27 year old Sam Ballantyne. The users need to pay a small sum of $9 for a month to use the app.
Hotline app makes users use the service where the first conversation should be a voice call. Interestingly, in order to text others, the user needs to have a five minute phone conversation with the match. There is nothing to worry since the phone number doesn't appear on caller ID.
However, the dating app, Hotline is available on iOS platform in New York only. But it would soon spread across the globe. This strangely old fashioned app, that Sam developed came to his mind while he was dating another person on a dating site. The person insisted on a call instead of messaging and this is when it struck him.
He even found it to be oddly in favor of the users for the users can easily tell if they are interested to proceed further. For instance, if they find each other compatible enough to date and so on. Ballantyne was a classical musician who turned into an app developer.
"Hotline wants you to stop swiping and start discerning," said Ballantyne. Calls happen within the app so that Hotline can keep the numbers safe and even track how long the calls last. Usually most calls last more than five minutes as Mashable reported. In fact, an average call lasts about 25 minutes, while some users call go over 40 minutes.
Even though the app might not be for everyone, users who prefer talking over texting may find it helpful. At least, the users would know where the conversation is heading to and if they want to date the probable match.
