Previous month, the actor, writer and the director of the "Batman" film, Ben Affleck announced that he is not willing to go forward with directing the standalone batman movie. Speculations are that he is disappointed by the negative reaction "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" and his recently directed "Live by Night".
After Ben Affleck withdrew his name as the director for the Batman solo, Matt Reeves has been approached to fill in the void. Fede Alvarez and Ridely Scott are the other names that are being considered for the direction of the solo batman movie. The latest news confirmed that Matt Reeves has agreed to direct the movie but the negotiation was not finalized yet, revealed Cinema Blend.
According to Movie Web, Ridley Scott has expressed his willingness to direct the Batman. Fans, who have been disheartened by the withdrawal of Ben Affleck, are now happy that Ridley Scott will be directing, if Reeves declines. Scott has directed some of the most wonderful and huge cast movies like "Blade Runner" and its sequence in line, "Exodus: Gods and Kings". The Martian and the Counsellor. There is another director, Fede Alvarez, who is interested in directing the movie. He has previously directed "Don't Breathe" and "Evil Dead".
Affleck had co-written the script of the movie with Geoff Johns. It has been reported the script is being reworked by Chris Terrio and is supposed that it will undergo several rewriting. It is also reported everyone, including Affleck and Higher authorities of Warner Bros. are happy with the new script, this means that the movie is set to be taken into production as soon they get a director for the Solo Batman Movie. There are also rumors that Ben Affleck might retire from his role as the Batman but Warner Bros. might be able to influence him to stay for this one at least.
