"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is almost near to an end, but another familiar face is reappearing. That episode tipped that Matt will encounter a family member he had never seen since season 1.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Kelly Donovan will be making an appearance in the second-to-last episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. As to recall, it has been eight years that she is the mother of Matt.

In her last appearance, Kelly decided to give up on her children after Matt recommended being the best for all of them. Right after that, Vicki became a vampire and was killed by Damon Salvatore thus Matt was left alone.

Matt turns out to be the successor of the real founding family: the Maxwells. As that, “The Vampire Diaries” season 8's story focused more on Matt, with an absolute plot line that works with Mystic Falls.

His family circle operated with Bonnie’s antecedent Beatrice Bennett to formulate a bell that would end sirens. The spell was unluckily corrupted resulting Earth being dragged to hell.

After seven seasons of only mentioning him, Matt’s dad finally made a physical appearance on “The Vampire Diaries” season 8. Meanwhile, numerous fans are asking for a scene between Kelly and Matt.

Kelly's appearance on “The Vampire Diaries” season 8 is set to be on Stefan and Caroline's wedding, TV Line reported. This is the long-planned June wedding of Caroline; she is preparing from the very first episode. In fact, Steroline fans requested it to be incorporated in The Vampire Diaries' concluding season.

It's not clear how Kelly will return in the episode, and the reasons of her come back. In addition, she was never been mentioned since she departed in Season 1. On the other hand, Stefan and Damon will be working together to persuade an enemy, but the synopsis didn't hint who that rival is. If it's not Cade, Kelly is possibly the new enemy on “The Vampire Diaries” season 8.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 has only three episodes left. It was affirmed that Nina Dobrev will reprise her role as Elena Gilbert. The show will end on March 10 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
