Nintendo Switch Latest News & Update: Console up for Grabs at GameStop; Retailer Offers Two Different Bundles
- comments
Executives from Nintendo assured consumers that the Nintendo Switch would not encounter the "out-of-stock" problems the Nintendo NES Classic Edition had. Now, people are still finding it difficult to purchase a Switch. Good news, though, the Switch is available for pre-orders at GameSpot, albeit on more pricey bundles.
Forbes reports that the major retailer, GameSpot, has received a number of the recently released Nintendo Switch. These consoles are now available for pre-orders and will be delivered to consumers no later than Easter Sunday.
There is a sort of bad news, however. GameSpot is offering the Nintendo Switch units in two different bundles, and that means, the retailer is selling the "Switch" at a higher price. For customers who don't want to wait for Nintendo to re-stock other retailers, they can opt to purchase the "Switch" by choosing between two different bundled options.
According to Droid Report, GameSpot is offering the Starter Bundle One for US$ 510. This bundle includes the Nintendo Switch, the game "Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and its digital expansion pass, a copy of "Super Bomberman R," and a "gray Joy-Con."
The Starter Bundle Two is being offered for US$ 600. This bundle includes the Nintendo Switch, the game "Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and its digital expansion pass with a strategy guide, a copy of "Just Dance 2017," and the game "Snipperclips: Cut it out, Together. GameSpot, in this second bundle, is also offering a 64 GB SanDisk micro SD card, a Joy-Con charging dock, a Nyko Power Kit, and a hybrid cover and case.
While the shipping fees are free for both the Starter Bundle One and the Starter Bundle Two, consumers need to go into an actual physical store to avail of the Starter Bundle One. Starter Bundle Two, on the other hand, is available both in the store and at the GameStop's official website.
The shortage in stocks of the "Nintendo Switch" brings back recent memory of the Nintendo NES Classic Edition, the surprise hit of 2016. Before its official release, an executive of Nintendo even assured consumers that the Nintendo Switch will not encounter the same stocking-problems that plagued the Classic Edition.
Yet, for hardcore Nintendo fans, GameSpot offering two different Nintendo Switch bundles is a breath of fresh air, a respite from their "Switch" hunting. For casual Nintendo fans, the fact that the game is sold way over than the original price tag of US$ 299.99, it might be wiser to wait for Nintendo to re-stock the other outlets.
GameStop, however, is providing another option: trade in a Nintendo 3DS or a Wii U for a US$ 125 store credit. Consumers could apply the credit to purchase the Nintendo Switch until March 19.
