iPhone 6 Release Date September 2014—Specs & Rumors

While rumors swarm and factories in China add fuel to the fire over what we can expect from Apple's newest iPhone6, which will debut at the Sept. 9 Apple press conference, little to nothing has been confirmed by the technology super-power. Product designs and prospective images of the iPhone 6 have been leaked from Apple's factories in China, however it's news States-side that reports all the specs we can expect to see in the Sept. 9 reveal.

Believed to be completely redesigned, with a slimline profile much like newer Android devices, the clean iPhone 6 that runs on its own iOS processor will likely come in two versions with 4.7" or 5.5" displays. Though, as we expect the company would not like competition between the two products, it is likely that we will see the staggered release of the two versions, with the 4.7" coming first and the 5.5" launching later next year.

 It is expected that while many of the hardware on the phone many be similar to the iPhone 5, which was in a class of its own for much of this past year, the new iPhone 6 will run on an even faster A8 processor and on iOS 8. Though Apple has kept the development very hush hush, credible sources are saying that because of past problems with iPhone durability, that the iPhone 6 will come equipped with the super scratch-resistant sapphire screens rumored to release this year.

Another widely believed addition to the new iPhone 6 will be Near-Field Communication (NFC) Hardware created in collaboration with Dutch chipmaker NXP, which will allow the iPhone to act as a contactless mobile payment system tied into your bank accounts. And since the forthcoming iOS 8 operating system that we can expect the iPhone 6 to have is fully equipped with a powerful framework called HomeKit, for smart products, it is theorized that the iPhone 6 will also be able to control a menagerie of NFC-equipped products.

While much is still up in the air, and news will not likely settle until after the Sept. 9 debut, here are the specs our sources confirm and everything we hope to expect from the new Apple device:
