"American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez joined the fitness and weight loss world by launching her new lifestyle brand, BodyLab, and by inviting women everywhere to take her Summer Weight Loss Challenge. According to CBS New York, the Bronx-born celebrity is issuing a challenge to all women out there.

Speaking in a Youtube video, the "Let's Get Loud" singer stated, "I challenge you to be the girl of your dreams, to start losing the extra pounds that will have nowhere to hide this summer."

She continues on to say, "I challenge you to crack the cocoon and find the butterfly; to love yourself more than anything on the menu, to make willpower your superpower. I will be your inspiration, your coach and your workout buddy."

Repair and reboot, burn and build, and endurance have become the challenge's key phrases, states CBS. With a Twitter campaign, #BeTheGirl, underway, JLo encourages women across the nation to sign up for a 10-week challenge in the BodyLab website. Anyone who signs up will receive emails with recipes and fitness tips.

After signing up, participants in the challenge will then have to download a smartphone app to their phones as well as purchase a number of health supplements which include health shakes, states CBS News.

According to CBS, the top five most successful participants will win a trip to New York. The five winners will stay at one of the "Maid in Manhattan" star's favorite hotels, will be treated to an exclusive spa day, and have the chance to meet JLo herself, reports Mirror UK

Though the challenge is generally well-received, there are some parts of the challenge that some find doubtful. Dr. Robert Graham, an Internist at NSLIJ, states, "I love some parts of it; the whole emphasis on moving, exercise and nutrition. But then when you actually start offering meal supplements in the form of shakes, that's when it starts getting a little more murky."

Dr. Graham adds, "Obviously there's financial gain to these things. I can't say what the motive of JLo is, but I have to believe people do things for the benefit of society."

His main concern is the price of the shakes. People in general are conflicted when it comes to the challenges' cost.

Mable Kombe from the Upper West Side says, "As long as it doesn't cost that much that I can't afford it. If I can afford, then yes!"

Meanwhile, Gabriela Velasquez from the Bronx said, "Why would you have to pay to lose weight? Just go running for free."

Lauren Switzer from Harlem believes that anyone who is a big fan of JLo would accept the challenge, regardless of the cost.
