Kim Kardashian and her famous husband, Kanye West, reportedly decided to implant male embryos into the star's uterus to ensure that their second child was a boy.

The E! reality star, who has been very open with her pregnancy struggles in the latest season of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," tweeted a message to her hubby on Father's Day, revealing the sex of their second child.

According to Daily Mail, Kim's tweet says: "You're such a good daddy to North & you will be the best daddy to our new son too!"

The gender of Kim and Kanye's second child has been kept under lock in key until Kim's tweet, but a source has told US Weekly that their second baby's gender was really no surprise. The source stated that Kim only had male embryos implanted into her uterus, so the couple already knew the child's sex.

Another source, who is allegedly close to Kanye West, confirmed the news to US Weekly as well.

"Kanye and Kim are so excited to complete their family. Kanye loves Nori more than anything, but to make his world complete, he wanted a little boy, an heir," says the source.

Meanwhile a close friend of Kim's stated that the reality star wanted two kids, one girl and one boy.

The close Kardashian friend says, "Kim would have happily taken a healthy baby, but being able to choose the sex is the cherry on top!"

While the sources seem adamant that the star couple chose the sex of their second child, Kim has said otherwise. Kim's representative Ina Treciokas told Refinery29.com via email that the story was not true, reports Fox News.

Daily Mail reports that sex selection starts at around $17,000. Dr. Eve Feinberg, medical director at fertility Centers of Illinois' Center, says that the procedure for gender selection is invasive as well as controversial.

"Some clinics have taken the stance that they don't even address gender. Other clinics say 'we will give you that information but it won't alter the selection of what gender we will implant," Dr. Feinberg told Yahoo Parenting.

Dr. Arthur Caplan, the director of NYU's Medical Ethics division, states that some parents opt for gender selection for family balancing, adding that it is psychologically important to some. He believes that if the star couple did decide to select the gender of their second child it is because they were having trouble conceiving in the first place.

"...it makes sense because this could be their last child," Dr. Caplan tells the New York Daily News.
