Marvel's 'Spiderman' Reboot Movie Release Date, Cast & Plot Spoilers: Sony Reveals Film Director

Sony and Marvel have finally decided that Jon Watts will be at the helm of the upcoming "Spiderman" movie reboot.
According to Screen Rant, Watts beat out several prominent directors for the head of the Marvel movie, adding weight to the question: What makes Watts special?
In an interview with Collider, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained why Watts was chosen amidst the sea of possible directors.
" ... We met with a lot of people and came down to a couple of very, very good finals candidates," he said.
Feige stated that himself, Tom Rothman, Jeremy Latcham, Louis D'Esposito from Marvel, and Amy Pascal from Sony, all came together to decide who would direct the next "Spiderman" stand-alone trilogy.
Jon Watts apparently had the imagination and vision both movie studios wanted for the next "Spiderman flick." Feige said:
"...Jon just - we really like his movie 'Cop Car'. We met with him four, fiver, or six times, and each time he had more and more interesting things to say. And at Marvel, it always comes down to ultimately, 'We can make a movie with this person for two years, we could spend almost every day with this person for two years. Let's go."
Screen Rant believes Watts was an ideal director to hire for the film due to his relative status as a "less-established director." It would seem that Watts' films are not usually viewed by the mainstream audience but he had made several leaps in indie films like "Cop Car."
Watts would be more open to his movies being a small piece of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, notes Screen Rant. Previous Marvel directors have supposedly had a hard time picturing the parts their individual movies have on later collaboration movies, like the "Avengers."
Marvel seems to be diversifying its family by hiring Jon Watts and Tom Holland. Jon Watts seems like the perfect addition to the loyal, hard-working directors Marvel already has under its belt, like James Gunn and the Russo brothers.
Gunn and the Russo brothers are willing to work towards the bigger puzzle the studio envisions for its movies. Gunn has directed "Guardians of the Galaxy" and will continue on to lead the production for the second movie as well.
The Russo brothers will return to direct "Captain America: Civil War" and are assigned to continue Joss Whedon's work on "The Avengers."
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Holland will add some young blood to the list of Marvel superheroes. The next "Spiderman" flick will be inspired by John Hughes' high-school films, which Marvel feels will show "Spiderman" in a different light, reports Cinema Blend.
