Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez Injured; Breaks Collarbone

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez will not be playing in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup after suffering an injury during a friendly warm-up match against Honduras.
Goal explains that the El Tri striker injured his collarbone after crashing into Brayan Beckeles from the Honduras.
Hernandez went to retrieve the ball, which had landed near the sidelines, when the Honduran player pushed him from behind.
Chicharito fell on his right shoulder, injuring his collarbone. He was called to the bench after the incident and was then seen getting into an ambulance after half-time.
Oribe Peralta substituted for Hernandez for the rest of the game.
Doctor Gerardo Aguilar, the medical physician assigned to the Mexican soccer team, has confirmed that Hernandez fractured his right collarbone.
"He is being evaluated again in [the] hospital to confirm what we found in a radiological study. He'll be out for three to four weeks minimum," Aguilar said.
According to NESN, Hernandez has already had surgery on his broken collarbone, and is currently recovering.
He will most likely not be fully recovered before the Gold Cup match scheduled for July 7 to July 26.
El Tri coach Miguel Herrera expressed his disappointment about Hernandez's injury and the loss of his top striker.
"It will have an impact on the group but we're just thinking about what is ahead. This is an unfortunate situation we cannot change," Herrera said.
As the second highest goal-scorer for his country, Hernandez would have been an asset during the Gold Cup match.
He has scored 40 goals in 74 games while playing for Mexico, only six points behind the country's leading scorer, Jared Borgettis.
ESPN reports that the game against Honduras ended in a 0-0 draw, adding to the disappointment.
The Mexican soccer team's chances of winning the Gold Cup appears to have become bleaker, thanks to Hernandez's injury. Coupled with Hector Moreno's foot injury, El Tri has lost two valuable players.
According to ESPN, the Mexican team is less likely to play in the 2017 Confederations Cup, since it would take an all-out win in the Gold Cup to be eligible.
NESN explains that Mexico wanted to take back the Gold Cup from the United States this year. The winner of the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup is slated to face the U.S. in a playoff match, which would decide who represents the region during FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
