Elodie Yung will bring Elektra to Hell's Kitchen in season 2 of Marvel's Netflix series, "Daredevil." Yung will play Elektra opposite Charlie Cox, who portrays the principal character Matt Murdock in the series.

Yung's character may spell some trouble for Murdock, a lawyer-turned-vigilante, as she enters Hell's Kitchen in conjunction with Jon Bernthal's character, the Punisher, reports Slash Film.

Entertainment Weekly explains that Elektra was alluded to in the first season of "Daredevil" when Murdock spoke to Foggy about his relationship with a Greek girl that did not pan out well.

According to Variety, Yung's character is described as "a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock's past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle."

Yung seems to be perfect for the part since she has experienced playing action-packed roles in her past movies, such as the 2013 flick, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," Slash Film points out. She was also part of the parkour sequel film, "District 13: Ultimatum."

According to Seattle Pi, Yung has a black belt in karate, which will come in handy in her new role as Elektra, who is a ninja assassin.

Jeph Loeb, Marvel TV head and executive producer, also praised Yung saying, "After a worldwide search, we found Elodie, the perfect actress to embody both Elektra's impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity."

Yung's black belt and her previous action movies will undoubtedly help her portray the troubled yet deadly character.

Marvel's official website explains that Elektra has been studying martial arts since adolescence. She was driven to hate the world after her father, who had a run-in with terrorists, was killed. Because of this, Elektra began intensive trainings in martial arts, getting mixed up with the wrong people along the way.

The site goes on to explain that Mudock and Elektra first met while they were both attending Columbia University, where they ultimately fell in love. Due to her father's death, however, Elektra left the United States, and the relationship consequently ended.

Loeb seems to think the chemistry between Yung and Cox does justice to the love story of Elektra and Murdock in the comics.

"Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for," he says.

According to Comic Book, season 2 of the hit series "Daredevil" will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
