Weight Loss Tips & Tricks: Jennifer Hudson Stays Active to Keep Fit
- comments
American Idol season 3 sweetheart Jennifer Hudson has inspired millions after a successful career in the entertainment industry, but her weight loss is definitely one thing that continues to motivate others. The 33-year-old Illinois native first debuted her 50-lb weight loss in 2010, after becoming a spokesperson for Weight Watchers.
According to Huffpost Celebrity, the singer/actress amicably parted ways with Weight Watchers last year. Hudson said: "My experience with Weight Watchers has truly been life changing. I am grateful for what I have learned throughout the process and will always take it with me."
Today, Hudson, who is mother to six-year-old David, told People that despite not working out often, she still maintains her fit figure by keeping up with her active son.
"In the summertime, I like to do outdoor activities with my son like bike riding, playing basketball or skating," said Hudson. "Big David [fiancé David Otunga] and I are very active parents."
The Grammy and Oscar Award-winning songstress added: "We were outside in our front yard recently playing ball and I was like 'What other parent does this?' I know they think we're the strangest people, but we keep up with the kids."
She said that she keeps fit by "making it fun" and making sure that if she's not comfortable and "can't Jennifer-ize it and make it enjoyable" for her, it's not going to happen.
Hudson also told the Huffington Post in 2012 that her relationship with food has changed. "The key thing is figuring out what your issues are, and it's really never about the food. You have to be real and honest with yourself. I had to stop and look and ask myself, 'Why do I want this? What is the real reason?' At times it was comfort food like chocolate. I love chocolate and I realized it relaxes me, so when you acknowledge what the issue is, you can control it better," she said.
She told the publication a year later how she was surprised to be called a role model. Hudson said: "When people say, 'I want to get my J. Hud on' or they want to go to the gym, and I’m the role model for what they want to look like. It’s like, really? How did that happen, to go from not being that person to being that person? ...it’s huge placement to step into."
