Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B and "Scary Spice," has a lot to smile about. The 40-year-old mother of three had made headlines over the years for her admirable weight loss especially after giving birth to her daughter, Madison in September 2011.
Digital Spy reported in early 2012 that Mel B became the face of weight loss company Jenny Craig in Australia. Mel B said of her decision to lose weight: "When you've just had a baby, you want to get back into shape and remember what you felt like nine months ago. Especially working on camera and being in the public eye, you want to feel like you're at your best."
Mel B told People that over the years, she tried different diets. She admitted: "I’ve done everything. I did vegan for a couple of weeks, a gluten-free food delivery that me and my husband tried for a few of days, juice cleanses. Overall I like to make sure I eat a good amount of protein and vegetables."
The singer-turned-TV host also shared that she enjoys her husband Stephen Belafonte's breakfast cooking.
"Sometimes he’ll make proper Heinz beans on toast. It’s an English thing and so yummy with a bit of pepper on it," she said.
According to People, Mel B's daily meals include 3 to 4 liters of water, a cup of plain oatmeal or breakfast paired with small hot vanilla soy latte with an extra shot from Coffee Bean. For lunch, she has two kale wraps with mushroom, tomato, cucumber, green peppers, green onion and balsamic vinegar paired with a slice of dark rye bread with avocado. She likes to snack on Vero Greens juice from L.A. Juice, and for dinner, she goes for grilled chicken breast with hot chili spices (a recent study showed that chili peppers do have several health benefits), and cauliflower boiled and pureed with salt and pepper. For dessert, she munches on a handful of gummy bears.
Mel B said she has no secret to maintaining her svelte body, but admitted she takes "everything in moderation."
The former Spice Girl is still big on girl power, as she recently spoke to the Huffington Post about women empowerment.
"I think fundamentally as a woman, you want to be the best version of you that you can possibly be," Mel B said in an interview. "Forget any outside influences. You have to do it for yourself, inside-out first."
