Archeologists in Egypt say they've uncovered the burial site of a previously-unknown pharaoh who apparently ruled more than 3,600 years ago. The remains of King Senebkay were uncovered at South Abydos in the country's Sohag province, about 300 miles south of Cairo, by an expedition from the University of Pennsylvania working in cooperation with the Egyptian government, the antiqueties ministry said in a statement.

On Wednesday President Barack Obama officially appointed Maria Contreras-Sweet to head the Small Business Administration in a special ceremony at the White House. "She's the founder of ProAmérica Bank, the first Latino-owned business bank in California in over 30 years," Obama said when introducing her to the press. "Its focus is small and medium-sized businesses in Latino neighborhoods. So not only did she start small businesses, but those have also been her customers, and she understands all too often that the lack of access to capital means a lack of opportunity.
In a new revealing interview with People magazine, First Lady Michelle Obama talked about how she feels about turning 50 years old, admitting that she would not rule out getting Botox. The GOP's release of reform principles is renewing hope that immigration reform could pass in 2014. The document, which was kept secret until now, will call for increased border-security and interior enforcement, a worker verification system for employers and earned legal status for undocumented immigrants. It will also outline reforms for visa programs and a system to track those who are in the country legally, according to Politico.
Texas Senator Eddie Lucio (D) of Brownsville was appointed to the Joint Interim Committee to Study Water Desalination, Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst announced on Thursday. Desalination is the process of removing salt from either brackish or saltwater. With Texas hit by severe drought in recent years, the ability to increase water capacity through the process of desalination is becoming increasingly important to the Lone Star State. According to forecasts by meteorologists, the drought being experienced in Texas could continue for years to come, making new sources of water even more important.

Immediately after making that deal, FC Dallas sent allocation money and the 10th overall selection to Philadelphia to move back up in the draft order to the sixth overall selection where the club snagged Akindele.
