CDC reports that a chlorine-resistant parasite called Cryptosporidium is responsible for the treated water contamination incidents in public pools while E. coli is to be blamed for open water contamination outbreaks. These invaders are brought about by sick swimmers whenever they take a dip in the pool or lakes.
