A total solar eclipse will happen in the United States on Aug. 21, 2017. This will be the first total eclipse since Feb. 26, 1979.
Lika Guhathakurta an astrophysicist in NASA Washington headquarters said that the upcoming eclipse in 2017 is especially unique because of the uninterrupted characteristics land masses that will pass over. The outer atmosphere will be scientists basis because this is where they see significants eruptions, including solar flares, and the start of the solar wind.
