At 51, Elle Macpherson can still show why she is known as 'The Body.' The supermodel recently revealed her weight loss secrets.
The mom of two said on Daily Mail that she took vitamins and supplements for years, even trying acupuncture and reflexology for some time. Although she appeared healthy, Macpherson told her doctor that something was not right.
Daily Mail says the doctor told the supermodel that her body had become acidic because of "stress, travel and lack of sleep."
She reveals on Celebrity Health Fitness that she now uses a combination of a low-carb alkaline diet and exercise to maintain her stunning figure.
Her alkaline diet consists mainly of green leafy vegetables, fruits, beans, spices and nuts. According to Examiner, keeping your body in an alkaline state reduces the buildup of acids in the body.
Minimizing inflammation slows down aging and prevents weight gain. Alkaline diets are devoid of any foods containing sugar, dairy, coffee, alcohol and processed foods, Examiner adds.
"Some of my favorite foods are spinach, beetroot, goat's cheese, pearl barley, kale, quinoa, pine nuts, halloumi," Elle said on Celebrity Health Fitness. "I eat fish, but no red meat or chicken."
Kate Hudson and Kelly Ripa are some of the celebrities who follow the alkaline diet, the Examiner report states.
"I noticed changes in just two weeks," Macpherson said to Celebrity Health Fitness reporters.
She added during the interview, "I had more vitality, my skin wasn't dry, I stopped craving sugar, my mood stabilized, everything became more balanced. A welcome byproduct was losing weight around my middle."
Macpherson is also a staunch advocate for Super Elixir products and even recommended the powder to writer Millie Mackintosh during the brand's first anniversary at Grace Belgravia's Grace Restaurant, Evening Standard reports. Reveal says each miniature sachet is packed with 45 ingredients including Chinese herbs, digestive enzymes and alkalizing greens.
The Australian supermodel believes in its ability to keep the body in top shape both inside and out. She considers it a more practical investment than a face cream, Reveal reports.
To ensure that her body remains pH balanced, Macpherson travels with a urine tester kit, says Daily Mail.
Macpherson also admits to being an exercise addict. She works out for 45 minutes a day every day, according to the Examiner. She loves mixing up her work outs, the report indicates.
When outdoors, she loves to surf, do swim laps, get on ski or run and while indoors, she does strength exercises, yoga or Pilates to keep herself in tip top shape, Examiner reveals.
