Sam Smith Reveals Healthy Weight Loss Secrets

It has been quite an amazing couple of years for award-winning English singer-songwriter Sam Smith, whose journey to worldwide stardom has been met with both praise and criticism, just like any other Hollywood celebrity.
Just last year, Smith won four Grammy Awards out of his six nominations, including Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. But his string of successes was also paired with criticism for being overweight, with TV and radio personality Howard Stern calling Smith "fat" and "ugly" earlier this year. Those who reduced him to just another "fat fellow" in the entertainment industry can now bite their tongue as the singer has been working hard to attain a healthier body, as documented in his Instagram account, @samsmithworld. Smith admitted that being called "fat" offended him more than being called "gay."
In March, Smith spoke about his relationship with food in the Australian TV show 60 Minutes, saying that he would resort to eating whenever he felt down.
Smith recently shared a photo of himself suffering from a sunburn, but most noticeably, skinnier than ever. The singer-songwriter attributes his weight loss to several factors, one of which is Amelia Freer's book "Eat. Nourish. Glow." that had helped him transform his overall wellness.
He wrote in an Instagram post: "Amelia Freer has helped me lose over a stone in 2 weeks and has completely transformed my relationship with food...It's not even about weight loss it's about feeling happy in yourself."
Smith started a low-carb, Paleo-style detox diet in April this year, leading him to lose 14 pounds in as little as 14 days. Smith followed Amelia Freer's concept of a gluten-free Paleo-like diet that focuses on high-quality proteins and a lot of vegetables, and prohibits dairy, processed foods, sugar and alcohol.
On top of changing his eating habits, Smith had been hitting the gym, as evidenced by his Instagram photos, where he's either sweating it out by exercising or taking scenic hikes.
Smith joins the ranks of celebrities who took on the Paleo diet to get in shape, including Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Megan Fox, Miley Cyrus, Matthew McConaughey, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Kobe Bryant, among others.
While Smith has not disclosed how much total weight he has lost over the past 6 months, based on his photos, he seemed to have shredded around 35 to 45 pounds, a massive feat that he should be truly proud of and a testament to what can be achieved with hard work and discipline.
